MORE THAN 20 YEARS IN APPAREL PRINTING
A small act of care
Our founder has worked in apparel printing for more than 20 years. About a decade ago, someone close to him was going through a serious mental health struggle.
When she came to visit, he would sometimes print a few encouraging words on a shirt or sweatshirt for her. There was no company behind it. No larger plan. It was simply one person trying to give someone he loved something hopeful to carry.
The exact first message has been lost to time. What happened after she wore it has not.
She began coming back with stories.
The messages helped her feel more confident and less alone. People noticed them too. Some smiled. Some stopped to speak with her. Some offered encouragement, kindness, or even a hug.
The clothing did not solve what she was facing, and it was never meant to. But the words could change a moment. They could help her feel seen. They could give another person a reason to reach out.
The exact first message has been lost to time. What it made possible has not.
Sometimes the person who needs the words is wearing them. Sometimes they are standing behind them.
That changed what the work was for.
After years of printing apparel for businesses, events, celebrations, and everyday life, our founder began to see his work differently.
A garment could do more than carry a design. It could carry words that people find difficult to say. It could place those words in front of someone at the moment they needed them.
He knew that something created for one person he loved could reach far beyond her. That is where You Are Seen began.
